Brisk Chilly Weather Through Friday Dry Weekend Wetter Next Week

We are done with yesterday’s cold front and we are done with rain for the week and the weekend. Low pressure is developing near Nova Scotia and that low will be around for the next 3 days. Clouds are to the northwest but it appears that the more unstable part of the atmosphere will be to our north and northeast for the next 3 days. That leaves us in partly sunny skies for today. There will be a bit of a wind and temperatures will be in on the chilly side with highs mostly in the 50s.

Tonight will be a cold and mostly clear night with a bit of a breeze. Most lows will be in the 30s. Thursday will be a nice day but again a storm to the northeast and high pressure to the northwest leaves us in a tight pressure gradient. Skies should be partly to mostly sunny with highs again just in the 50s.

Friday will be a repeat of Thursday as we should see partly to mostly sunny skies. It will still be breezy with highs in the 50s but the low to the northeast should start to pull out to the east. That should allow the pressure gradient to relax a bit as the day goes on and winds will start to ease later in the day.

The weekend will see dry weather. High pressure settles into Eastern Canada down into the Middle Atlantic states. With no storm to the northeast and much less wind, the late April/early May sun will be able to bring temperatures back to where they should be for this time of year. Saturday will see highs in the low to mid 60s.

Sunday we could see temperatures go a bit higher as we will have no worse than partly sunny skies. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s. Some clouds will arrive later in the day ahead of a weak weather front moving east. Next week the blocking pattern remains but it will shift a bit and that opens the door to a wetter pattern ahead.

3 weather systems are in the cards for next week though the timing is still a bit of an issue. The block now will allow weather systems to move eastward out of the Plains but they will be passing near or to our south and that puts us in the potential for some gloom and doom weather. Sunday night into Monday brings the first one. A second system comes in Tuesday night into Wednesday and a third stronger system is going to come in for the end of the week.  Enjoy the next 5 days of dry weather because next week will be different.
