Beautiful Saturday Showers Sunday Wet Weather Week Ahead

This time of year nice weather days seem few and far between but we are squeezing in a nice day of weather today across much of the Eastern US. Skies on the satellite are mainly clear from New England to Georiga. We will enjoy sunshine for the rest of the day. Most highs this afternoon will be in the low to mid 50s. Radars are and will remain nice and quiet for the rest of the day.

Unfortunately one nice day this weekend is all we will get as low pressure now in the Great Lakes heads southeast tonight and then off the New Jersey coast on Sunday. This isn’t a strong system but there is some moisture and an upper trough overhead that we will see some showers Sunday morning that should become more scattered during the afternoon. Most highs will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s. Well inland in Northern Pennsylvania to the Catskills some wet snow will be in the mix with temperatures some 10 degrees lower.

Weather systems are moving along at a regular rate in this pattern and we should dry out Sunday night. Monday another weak low from the Great Lakes moves east and falls apart but there will likely be some clouds around, along with some breaks of sunshine. Highs will reach the low and middle 60s except for 40s to near 50 long south and east facing shorelines thanks to an onshore wind.

Tuesday brings the next weather system to come out of the Southern Plains. This one will bring severe weather again across much of the Gulf States. The low tracks up the Appalachians and then redevelops just offshore. Clouds will increase late Monday night into Tuesday and then rain comes in Tuesday afternoon and out. It will exit Wednesday morning. Tuesday will feel raw and damp with highs in the 50s and an ocean wind. Another stronger storm is coming out of the Northern Plains and moving east with a cold front. Just as the Tuesday system moves away the next one moves in so don’t expect much clearing Wednesday. The front will approach with showers Wednesday night and the chance for showers and thunderstorms on Thursday. The upper air trough with this will likely take another two days to clear the Eastern US as it hangs around. This will likely mean clouds and showers Friday and again next Saturday before we finally get the sun back next Sunday.
