Beautiful Saturday Afternoon Gloom & Doom Return Sunday Monday

We worked through the first of three low pressure systems Thursday night and Friday so now we are enjoying a nice payoff today. We have seen a good deal of sunshine so far and we should finish off with sunshine in most places. Some morning low clouds and valley fog have lingered in parts of Eastern Pennsylvania and we are starting to see some high clouds approach from the southwest. But no doubt this is the better of the two weekend days as we finish with highs in the 60s except right along the immediate coast. Nothing is showing up anywhere close on the regional radars and the local radars are silent for now.

Clouds will be increasing and thickening up tonight. Low pressure is over Saint Louis, Missouri this afternoon and it will head east across the Ohio Valley and then to the Delaware./New Jersey coast on Sunday. This brings rain here from south to north well after midnight and then it continues on and off through the day Sunday into Sunday evening.

Rain is likely to linger on and off into Monday afternoon as the low is slow to move out to the east and we have to wait for the upper trough to move on through. Rainfall amounts from this system will be on the order of an inch to an inch and a half which is much like what we got from Thursday night and Friday’s system.

We will be dealing with a northeast to east wind for much of the time Sunday and Monday and that means temperatures will be hard pressed to get out of the 40s in many areas though some lower 50s are possible inland. This will be a late season snow producer for parts of Northeastern NY into Northern New England. Areas in the Catskills and Poconos could see a little wet snow in the mix especially as you go higher up.

We continue with the 2 days of gloom and 1 day of sunshine pattern on Tuesday with highs back into the 60s. Then the next weather system which will be strong low pressure and a cold front bringing with it showers and thunderstorms later Wednesday into Thursday. This time around we won’t have the high to the north and the long lasting onshore flow to deal with so we could see more reasonable temperatures in the 50s and 60s but we may have to wait for a warm front to push through later Wednesday into Wednesday evening. Showers and thunderstorms could produce another round of 1 to 2 inches later Wednesday night through at least part of Thursday. This could put the weekly rainfall over parts of the area to over 5 inches when it is all said and done. Some weather improvement should settle in at the end of next week.
