Winter Weather Advisory Warren Hunterdon Counties

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 8 AM EST
MONDAY…

* WHAT…A period of a wintry mix, including light freezing rain
is expected, including during the morning commute on Monday.
Little accumulation is expected, but a glaze of ice may occur,
especially on bridges and overpasses.

* WHERE…Portions of northwest New Jersey and eastern
Pennsylvania.

* WHEN…From 3 AM to 8 AM EST Monday.

It is the first Winter Weather Advisory of the season and it comes a bit early but moisture is streaming northeastward into the cold air mass that is still hanging on over us. No record lows tonight but the cold ground (yes the ground is cold) and the cold air that remains might be enough to produce some mixed precipitation in these counties in Northwest New Jersey & parts of Eastern Pennsylvania. The satellite loop shows the clouds and moisture streaming eastward. It is a weak system but enough to produce a little light mix and perhaps a bit of a glaze in some areas overnight.

A few echos are showing up on the radar across parts of Pennsylvania and into Western New Jersey though the air is dry and much of it isn’t even reaching the ground as of 10pm Sunday.

A weak low will go by to our south on Monday and for most of the area there will be a bit of rain around that should not amount to much. Most of the area should see a quarter of an inch or less with lower amounts as you go north. There will be some half inch amounts however in parts of Southern New Jersey & Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Rain should be ending from west to east in the early afternoon though it could last a bit longer across Connecticut and Long Island. Dry follows for Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday’s temperatures will struggle a bit in the 40s but we should be back into the 50s on Wednesday.
