Winter Weather Advisory NYC HV LI NJ CT PA
Everywhere from Northern Virginia to Southern England is covered under a Winter Weather Advisory for late tonight and Saturday morning. Everything to me seems on course with no important changes in the weather models overnight. There was a tendency to be a little colder especially inland. This means a couple of hours of freezing rain is probable away from the coast. As far as snowfall is concerned I am making some s small adjustments by raising amounts sligtly. I also will open the door to the possibility of a couple of hours of freezing rain before temperatures go over 32. It may take a while inland.
JOE’S SNOW FORECAST MAP UPDATED FRIDAY MORNING 12/16/2016
The National Weather Service snowfall forecast maps are a little more aggressive then I am but not by too much. The have a 4 to 6 inch line a little further south than I do. They also went a little less for Long Island than I did.
The maps below are the National Weather Service forecast snow maps with the most likely snowfall prediction.
Warm fronts are tricky things and what the models are suggesting is that a warm frontal wave develops and this pinches in cold air for just a few extra hours. And that could be enough to produce a few extra inches for somebody.
There are no weather issues for today other than the cold and sunshine giving way to arriving clouds. Snow arrives in the early morning hours on Saturday and changes to rain between 7am and 11am in most areas.
