Winter Weather Advisory Freezing Rain To Rain Dry Quiet Rest of the Week
Cold temperatures of the last few days have left us with a very cold ground and now we have some precipitation this morning for freezing rain. Winter Weather Advisories are up from Southeast Pennsylvania northeast into Northern NJ to NYC, Long Island, the Hudson Valley and into Connecticut. Areas to the north are seeing some snow in the mix too. What is on the radar is on the light side. As temperatures rise the ground temps will lag for a couple of hours so watch for glazing and slick spots.
Ice accretion amounts are all very low but it is enough to make getting around an issue until the ground warms enough. Temperatures are headed higher as the day wears on. We should eventually reach the upper 30s and lower 40s and that certainly will put an end to any icing. By midday to early afternoon except for perhaps the coldes spots inland, it should be done. Then it is on to some rain this afternoon and into tonight.

WEATHER RADAR
Low pressure is developing offshore and it will move northeast. The western edge of the rain shield cuts off near the New Jersey Pennsylvania state line so rainfall amounts drop from east to west. The highest amounts will be from Coastal New Jersey to Long Island and Southeastern New England.
Once this low goes away the rest of the week still looks quiet. We have a cold front that is going to arrive late Wednesday night and early Thursday and another arrives on Saturday. Both fronts will have little weather with them and will move through dry with little fanfare. In the meantime, Each day should be no worse than partly sunny. Highs will be mostly in the 40s each day through Friday. After Saturday’s cold front passes we will be turning colder in a more significant way. Models continue to point to vague signals of storm potential for Sunday but I would like to wait another day or two to see how the upper air plays out.
