Winter Weather Advisories Elevated Areas NW New Jersey Lower Hudson Valley
Winter Storm Warnings continue today for much of Northeast Pennsylvania to the Catskills. Winter Weather Advisories are posted for the counties in Northwest New Jersey and the Lower Hudson Valley. This remains an elevation driven snow event for inland areas above 750 to 1000 feet. Several to 6 inches are possible on the highest peaks. It has been snowing overnight in Northeast Pennsylvania and the Catskills so another few inches will accumulate there on top of what is already on the ground.
Areas that are not under warnings or advisories will see more rain today as the upper air storm continues to rotate right overhead as satellite and radar loops indicate. This will produce rain and perhaps another 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch making two day rain totals up to 2 inches in some places. It is going to be a raw cold day with temperatures just in the 30s inland and upper 30s to near 40 along the coast. Some wet snowflakes could mix in areas closer to the coast.

WEATHER RADAR
This all comes to an end tonight as low pressure begins to move away to the northeast. The gradient will tighten up and northwest winds will gust 20 to 30 mph at times overnight and over much of the weekend. Weather conditions will improve Saturday with decreasing clouds and some sunshine. Highs will be in the 40s to near 50 degrees in some places.
Sunday is probably going to be the better of the two days with more sunshine, fewer clouds, a slowly easing wind later in the day. Highs Sunday will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Next week is Thanksgiving week and it will start dry and milder Monday ahead of another approaching cold front. This front could produce a few showers Tuesday before it turns colder again for Wednesday and Thursday. Another storm system moving across the South could bring rain later Thanksgiving day and perhaps some snow in the mix for colder areas in the interior Northeast but it is too early to be specific on this system.
