Winter Storm Watch Late Sunday into Monday Morning

Winter Storm Watch Late Sunday into Monday Morning

This morning’s storm system pulls away and now we start to look ahead to Sunday with weather system number 3. Winter Storm Watches are now up for Northern New Jersey the Hudson Valley & Connecticut for Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. We are thinking that the idea of a weaker storm tracking further south is the best approach with this system. We came out with our snow forecast early call on Thursday and we remain with the same idea this morning.

We continue to think that the storm from this morning will strengthen offshore and create an alley way for the next storm system to follow. It will track further south which means that it will be colder over much of the area. We will also see it be weaker to a certain extent and I think that these numbers in the 3 to 6 inch range pretty much covers the potential here. Snow begins Sunday afternoon and is over with before the Monday morning commute begins.

Weather models last night continue to slowly figure out that the suppressed look is the more likely outcome here. We still expect models to move a bit more before finally settling on a track to the east northeast and offshore. Once this storm is done we will see weather conditions improve Monday with dry very cold weather for much of next week.

Since many of you like to forecast shop you may have noticed that my forecasts are usually different from what other people are forecasting. Please understand that when I make my forecasts I never look at what anyone else is doing except for the National Weather Service’s forecasts and then only after I have already completed mine. As far as anyone else is concerned I really could care less. I have made forecasting shopping easy here by posting all the National Weather Service snow forecast maps for your enjoyment & your convenience on my weather app. If you haven’t downloaded my weather app you can do so on google play or on the app store. It is available for all mobile devices. It is absolutely free.
