Winter Storm Warning Sussex NW NJ
Carbon Monroe Counties NE Pa
Winter Storm Warning has been posted for Sussex County in Northwest New Jersey and for Carbon and Monroe Counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania for 5 to 7 inches of snow in these areas. Satellite and radars continue to show an increasing area of snow that is developing this afternoon. Winter Weather Advisories continue in the areas in blue. There are no other important changes in my snow forecast from this morning as I have the most of the area in the warning as 4 to 6 inches with the border of it touching Northwest New Jersey. I will reevaluate this later today and may push the southern flank of that line a little further south if conditions warrant.
Notice that on the map at the top of the page that temperatures in Southern New Jersey are in the low to mid 40s and in the middle 30s on Long Island as of 2pm. A light southeast wind has brought in slightly warmer air to the immediate coast. It will only make it so far inland before winds turn to the northeast and north tonight. The southern end of the freezing line aloft will be straddling very close to the coast so we will watch for any subtle changes that might make the atmosphere a bit colder and more favorable for snow. So far however there is no reason not to stay the course as far as the forecast is concerned.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Gradually look for the radar to spread out further south and also look for precipitation to begin developing in the ocean and arcing back westward this evening. The bulk of the precipitation will fall overnight into Wednesday morning before ending from west to east. Weather conditions will improve during Wednesday afternoon.
