Winter Storm Warning North of Rt 84
Winter Storm Warning North of Rt 84 Winter Weather Advisory NJ to RT 78, NYC, Long Island, Hudson Valley CT South of Rt 84
High Wind Watch Monday
Overnight we saw cold air bleed southward from New England and that has put areas under advisories below freezing. Sleet and freezing rain have glazed everything over this morning so travel is potentially dangerous this morning into this afternoon, or at least until temperatures rise above 32. That is going to be a bit difficult to accomplish today especially just inland of the coast.
The satellite loop this morning shows clousd streaming in from the west as low pressure moves out of the Ohio Valley. This low will eventually redevelop just south of Long Island and become a major storm just east of Cape Cod on Monday. This is going to create strong winds on Monday with gusts to 50 mph at times. High Wind Watch is posted from New Jersey through New England.

REGIONAL RADAR
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
Radars are beginning to get busy. Notice that there is not much happening south of Route 78 in New Jersey and anything that does occur in those areas south of the advisory zone will be rain. The bulk of the precipitation will occur for areas further north.
The maps below are the National Weather Service forecast snow maps with the most likely snowfall prediction.
The further north you go into the Hudson Valley and Connecticut the precipitation will become more frozen then freezing. Accumulations of several inches or more are possible. The heaviest snow from this storm will be as you go northeastward into New England. Precipitation ends this evening from west to east and the it will be the wind for Monday with clouds and some sunshine. Highs will just be in the 30s.
Please be cautious on your travels today with the glazed roads and surfaces. Driving on snow is one thing, but ice is quite another.
