Weekend of Sunshine Low Humidity Brief Heat Monday

We have arrived at the weekend with just two more left in the summer vacation season. Today will be a very good day indeed as we not only have sunshine but we have a very dry air mass that covers much of the Eastern and Southern US! Temperatures today will rise the the pleasant upper 70s and lower 80s. Dew points will be in the lower 50s and even some upper 40s and that makes for very comfortable conditions indeed. Radars are nice and quiet though we do see an upper trough moving through upstate NY and Northern New England where there could be some scattered showers and thunderstorms there.

Tonight will be a wonderfully cool night indeed and definitely a “sleep with the windows open” night under clear skies. Except for warmer urban areas and some coastal areas where lows will be in a range of 60 to 65, everyone else will be in the 50s overnight. With low humidity it will be quite a treat.

Sunday we begin to warm up as the dry high pressure area moves off the Mid Atlantic coast. We will go to more of a west wind which is the warm up wind. The wind will also be dry for now at least as there really isn’t much in the way of tropical moisture around in the Eastern US except for perhaps Florida and the Gulf coast. Temperatures Sunday will reach the mid to upper 80s for highs with plenty of sunshine but dew points, while a little higher than today, it will still be reasonably comfortable.

Monday brings a hot day to the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states and the humidity will go higher so it will start to feel sticky. We will have plenty of sunshine and high temperatures will reach the lower 90s in many locations with upper 80s in areas of the Hudson Valley and Southern New England.

We have a cold front that will be moving southeastward from Canada and this front doesn’t have a whole lot to it. We might see a scattered shower or thunderstorm Monday evening or Monday night but it will not amount to much and we have no severe weather risk indicated at this time.

High pressure will build into Upstate NY and New England Tuesday and that high is going to hold for much of the week. This will keep us on the cool side of normal much of the time with highs Tuesday in the upper 70s to some lower 80s. The same should hold for Wednesday and Thursday. Each day will feature at least some sunshine along with a nice mostly dry northeast wind and no thunderstorms to worry about for all of this coming week.
