We head into the weekend with colder air coming in tonight and a rare (at least lately) couple of days with temperatures close to or a little below normal. Gusty winds will be with us overnight and through much of the day on Saturday. Gale Warnings are in effect for the coastal waters. But from the standpoint of precipitation this weekend there won’t be any as the storm system to the north begins to slowly pull away to the northeast and the atmosphere becomes more stable. Winds will be gusting to 20 to 30 mph at times into Saturday afternoon but winds should drop off Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Temperatures this weekend will be chilly though they will be bouncing back by Sunday afternoon. Readings Saturday morning will be in the mid to upper 30s everywhere in the area and highs only in the mid to upper 40s Saturday afternoon with the odd 50 degree high here and there..then back down into the 30s Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Sunday temperatures should rebound at least into the middle and upper 50s for highs. Overall a nice mid fall weekend!

Next week we will see the development of a major snowstorm in the central Rockies which will bring some substantial snows to Colorado and Western Nebraska. Because of the big ridge of high pressure aloft in the eastern states this storm will be defected north northeastward. The cold front from this will not get here until later Thursday at the earliest. While the upper air pattern would suggest warm weather however the high will be moving to the northeast of us and setting up an onshore flow. This probably means cloud issues beginning Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday with temperatures perhaps being held back a bit. Thursday might be the one day next week when we could approach 70 before the front moves on through. Beyond next week some interesting developments in the long range and we suggest the following links for further reading.
