Week Ahead Mostly Dry First Half Showery & Cool Second Half
Week Ahead Mostly Dry First Half Showery & Cool Second Half
This is going to be a tale of two weather worlds diving the week in half. The first half will be warm and mostly dry while the second half will be much cooler and showery from time to time. We are also looking at a cooler tha average temperature pattern over the next 2 weeks overall along with above average precipitation. However we do have the next 3 days will be dry and on the warm side for the most part. We should see skies becomding partly sunny over the course of today with temperatures reaching into the 80s inland and 70s along the coast. Clouds and scattered showers from an overnight upper trough is passing offshore and should not be a big issue today. There could be some scattered showers or an isolated thunderstorm inland late today into this evening. They should be few and far between.

WEATHER RADAR
The changes lie ahead have to do with the broadscale jet stream pattern which is setting up to unusually strong from the northwest bringing Canadian air southward. This air isn’t particularly cold but the upper air is and the sets up for a cold unstable atmosphere developing later in the week. This means weather systems that track overhead or to our south. It also creates conditions that produce self destructive morning sunshine followed by showery rains and scattered thunderstorms.
We still have a couple of days of high pressure offshore to the northeast and an onshore wind. That probably brings a few low clouds tonight and again Tuesday night with temperatures in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Tuesday dayside should be no worse than partly sunny. Highs inland will reach into the 80s with 70s along the coast. It should be a rain free day.
Wednesday looks like the same but we will have an approaching cold front. Showers and thunderstorms could be knocking on the door late in the day and Wednesday night as low pressure approaches with a trailing cold front. Severe weather risks seem to be further south in the Middle Atlantic and for now the Storm Prediction Center is not indicating any severe weather in their forecast for mid week. Wednesday highs will again be into the 80s inland and 70s along the coast.
The trend to cooler than average temperatures will be gradual and not all at once. Thursday and Friday we will see self destructive sunshine and the chance for some scattered showers or thunderstorms especially in the afternoon and evening. Thursday highs will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s and Friday will be in the mid to upper 70s. The risk for clouds and showery rains is likely through the upcoming weekend.
