Wednesday Weather Watch For A Thunderstorm

We have been talking about the fact that there has been a dominant jet stream pattern from west to east across the United States for much of this month with the exception of the 3 day heat wave of early last week. This pattern is evident on the satellite loop as you watch clouds marching across the northern tier of the United States. The result of this is weather systems coming through every couple of days. It can’t get hot for more than a day or so with a pattern like this. It also means that every couple of days we have to deal with the chance for thunderstorms. Today starts out with sunshine but then we should go to a mix of sun and clouds. The system moving through today isn’t too impressive and the air ahead of it is not of the tropical nature of what we saw on Monday. Much of the day should be dry with temperatures in the 80s. Just watch for a scattered downpour or a thunderstorm later this afternoon into this evening. Not everyone will see one.

Thursday sunshine returns and there should be plenty of it. Highs will reach into the 80s through it will be cooler at the shore. Inland highs could reach the middle 80s in many areas.

Friday it will begin to turn more humid ahead of the next cold front. I think showers and thunderstorms hold off until nighttime and the day should be dry. Temperatures will be in the 80s. Clouds will probably hold temperatures down somewhat. Saturday’s forecast will hinge on whether this front moves through quickly or gets hung up. Some of the latest models suggest that the front could hang back to our west which would prolong the threat for showers and thunderstorms into Saturday afternoon before weather conditions improve. Sunday looks like a very nice day with sunshine and highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.
