WEATHER UPDATE: SECOND ROUND LATE TODAY COULD SEE ISOLATED SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS

activity_loopThe first round of rain is done but now a cold front will be approaching and that could trigger off some thunderstorms later this afternoon and this evening. Some of those storms could possible be severe though they should be isolated in nature. This front will move offshore and everything should be done by mid to late evening except in eastern most areas of Long Island and Connecticut where it could last until just before midnight. Afterwards it dries out and we don’t see any thunderstorm threat until late Saturday with the next cold front.

Rainfall amounts so far have been on the order of three quarters of an inch to an inch and a quarter on average. Long Island needed the most rain especially Suffolk County where rain has been almost non existent for the last couple of months. Unfortunately this we don’t see any widespread rainfall threats in the long range and in fact it will get very warm or even hot for a few days during the next 10 day stretch.
