Weather Conditions Mostly Dry Until Wednesday,
New Tropical Storm To Form Northwest Caribbean
We have an upper trough and a cold front moving through today and this has brought in more cloud cover. We still have the east wind and that combination will keep temperatures from getting much above the upper 60s and lower 70s. Showers are on the radars across Pennsylvania and while they should weaken as they move east, we might see a stray scattered shower or two in some spots. Otherwise it will just be a rather gray day. Some places might see the sun poke through the clouds. Overall it is an indifferent sort of day. The satellite loops show a large coastal storm offshore so between that and the high to the northeast, the onshore flow continues and coastal flooding at high tide remains an issue for the next 2 days.

Tonight likely sees leftover clouds around with most lows in the 50s. Tuesday we have another cold front that will be swinging east from the Great Lakes. The high to the northeast is wedged down the coast so this leaves us with a cloudy to partly sunny day Tuesday with most highs in the upper 60s and lower 70s. We do not expect to see any showers during the daytime Tuesday.
Tuesday night into Wednesday as the front nears we will see clouds and some showers around and perhaps the chance for an isolated thunderstorm. This is not a case for severe weather at least. Rainfall amounts will not amount to much. Rainfall amounts look to be a quarter to a half inch with higher amounts inland and west into Pennsylvania. Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
While all of this is going on we are seeing the high probability that a tropical storm will form in the Western Caribbean by Tuesday and then it will strengthen to a hurricane as it heads into the Eastern Gulf of Mexico Wednesday. Weather model and hurricane model guidance mostly show this to become a major hurricane as it heads northward to the Florida Panhandle. This is a rather unusual set up due to a strong upper low that is diving southeastward from the Plains to the lower Mississippi Valley. The track likely takes the hurricane across Northern Florida and into Western Georgia or Eastern Alabama.
Another high is forecast to build across the Great Lakes and Northeast late in the week and for now it seems that this should block the system from moving up the East Coast. Instead it will play itself out across the Tennessee Valley and the Deep South. There is some uncertainty regarding the ultimate track and strength of this system but if the block holds, Thursday will be a dry day with some sunshine and a west wind with highs in the 70s. It will also be dry Friday with sunshine and high clouds but no rain and highs in the 70s. We will of course be monitoring developments in the coming days regarding this system.
