Weather Conditions Slowly Begin Improving

COASTAL FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT INTO THIS EVENING’S HIGH TIDE

WINDS ARE STILL STRONG AND GUSTY TO 40 MPH OR MORE BUT WINDS DIMINISH THIS EVENING

WEATHER CONDITIONS IMPROVE ON SUNDAY

Low pressure continues to inch northward along the New Jersey coast. The heaviest rains have now moved northward and what is left is patchy light rain and gusty northeast winds which are still breaking past the 40 mph mark. Winds will continue to diminish and any light rain will begin to dry up on the radar as we move into the evening and overnight hours. Temperatures have reached into the 50s though it is still in the 40s north and northwest and northeast of NYC.  Overnight temperatures will likely settle in the upper 40s and lower 50s with leftover clouds.

You can see on the regional and local radars that at least the majority of the rain threat is done and we just have to work through some of the low level moisture that remains. Winds will be shifting around to the north tonight which should help dry things out further.

We don’t see any issues for Sunday and we should see a mix of sun and clouds developing with highs in the 50s to near 60. The next weather system and upper trough swing through Sunday night into Monday morning with a few showers. After that we will see leftover clouds Monday with highs in the 50s to near 60. Slightly cooler air with some sunshine and clouds will be with us on Tuesday. High will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

There is another weak front headed here for Wednesday that looks like it will fall apart before it gets here. Thursday looks dry and mild. Friday brings another chance for showers with a more important cold front. Some questions still remain for the weekend regarding whether this front stalls out or not. We will take a look at those prospects at some point over the weekend.
