Warm Front Approaches Tonight With Some Showers

Warm Thursday Colder Friday Weekend

We managed to hold off cloud cover for most of the day but now those clouds will start to increase from west to east. There is warmer air headed this away and a weak warm front in the Ohio Valley is pushing all this along. Tonight we are look for a few showers, mostly scattered and light in nature. Temperatures overnight won’t be going anywhere fast. Most lows will be in the mid 30s to lower 40s but temperatures may actually start to rise during the early morning hours as the warmer air moves in.

We are seeing showers on the radar across Pennsylvania and Western NY extending south into Northern Virginia. The rain shield is moving generally to the east and most of the rain is light and in some areas the echoes indicate that the rain may not be reaching the ground. These showers should be long gone before daybreak.

Thursday we are going to warm up quickly on a gusty west wind and some sunshine but the follow up cold front arrives in the afternoon with a narrow band of showers. Those will move through fast. We could see temperatures run up through the 50s and areas from Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey southward will see temperatures approach or even break above 60 degrees.

It is a quick shot of unimpressive chilly air that comes in for Friday. Look for sun and clouds with a gusty wind and highs mostly in the 40s to around 50 or so in the warmest spots which again will likely be Southern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey southward.

This is another one of those wash rinse repeat patterns. The weekend looks dry and uneventful with some sun Saturday and Sunday look for sunshine and some arriving clouds. Highs both days will likely be in the 40s to around 50. Low pressure heads out of the Northern Plains and moves across the Great Lakes and Southern Canada.  Some showers will be scattered around Sunday night into Monday morning and become more numerous in the afternoon until the cold front passes. Some areas well inland where there is some elevation could see a little snow at the end (yawn) and the out it goes. Another low follows that tracks from Saint Louis to Buffalo and that will probably mean some snow or sleet at the start well inland in Upstate NY and New England and rain everywhere else late Tuesday into Wednesday. A third low arrives late Thursday of next week with the same nonsense all over again. The pattern is too progressive. There is no blocking to hold in cold air. Unless you get something in the northern stream to press down on the ridge off the southeast coast, it is going to be difficult to produce any winter weather of significance.
