Upper Air Disturbances Scattered Snow Showers Today Wednesday Morning
We are still under the influence of a strong trough in the Eastern US that is creating a northwest flow. In this flow are a couple of upper air disturbances. One is moving through today and another on Wednesday. We have seen a few scattered snow showers show up around parts of the area this morning. It doesn’t amount to much. Temperatures are cold and there is a bit of a gusty breeze. Highs today will only be in the mid 30s to near 40. Some clouds are showing up on the satellite but we should break out into some sunshine at some point today.

They don’t show up very well on the regional radar but there are some scattered snow showers showing up on the local radars. These snow showers are very light and in many areas the snow isn’t reaching the ground. In Eastern Connecticut overnight there was a combination of freezing drizzle and a couple of snow showers that made for a rather icy start this morning filled with road closures and accidents so as always this time of year, it pays to be cautious.

Another cold night lies ahead with lows in the mid 20s to lower 30s. Clear skies start the night and then we will see clouds increase in the early morning hours ahead of a stronger upper trough moving southeast from Western NY.
This disturbance does weaken as it moves southeast Wednesday morning. There could be a few snow showers around after 7 am in Northeast Pennsylvania and Northern New Jersey into the Hudson Valley. The area weakens as it moves southeast. There is the chance there could be a light coating of snow left behind by this disturbance. Once it is done clouds will give way to sun Wednesday afternoon. Highs should reach into the 40s.
A warmup gets underway Thursday with some sunshine. Highs will reach the 40s to near 50. Friday looks good too with sunshine as highs reach into the 50s especially away from the ocean. Then the next storm system and cold front arrive on Saturday as low pressure heads to the lower Great Lakes and then redevelops east across Northern New England over the weekend. Some showers are likely Saturday into Saturday night. Highs will be in the 50s to near 60. Sunday weather conditions improve with clouds and some sun along with a gusty wind. Highs will be in the leftover 50s and then settling in the 40 later in the day.
