Tropical Storm Fiona Moving Northwest
There isn’t too much change in Tropical Storm Fiona. The latest satellite loop shows a core circulation though the southern half of the circulation appears exposed a bit. Tropical Storm Fiona will be entering a hostile environment over the the next several days. There is dry air and strong southwest shear so it is likely that Fiona will weaken as it continues either northwest or west northwestward.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Fiona was located near latitude 17.8 North, longitude 43.5 West. Fiona is moving toward the west-northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue with some increase in forward speed for the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Fiona is expected to weaken to a depression over the weekend. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
Should the core circulation somehow survive the next 3 days or so, conditions become more favorable as it heads further west but who knows what will be left.
