Bonnie On South Carolina Coast
TROPICAL DEPRESSION BONNIE
Tropical Storm Bonnie has now weakened as the center is just off the coast and it is back to tropical depression status with top winds of 35 mph. Overnight strong upper level wind shear ripped the tops of the thunderstorms causing Bonnie to weaken. Peak strength reached 45 mph overnight. Heavy rains are continuing and we can also see that moisture beginning to push up the east side of the Appalachians. This does not bode well for our Memorial Day as it appears now that we could be in for an all day rain.
CHARLESTON S.C. RADAR
Bonnie is going to drift northward and eventually just become a remnant low as it moves northeast along the Carolina coast over the next few days.
For us some of that tropical moisture will get involved with an approaching cold front that will bring in rain after midnight and that rain could last well into Monday afternoon. Models are significantly slower with moving things along.
The GFS model for 8pm Monday still shows rain here and actually the model does generate a generous amount of rainfall Monday of 1 to 2 inches. I’m beginning to lean to the idea that we will wind up with an all day soaking rain.
Don’t be without Meteorologist Joe Cioffi’s weather app. It is really a meteorologist app because you get my forecasts and my analysis and not some automated computer generated forecast based on the GFS model. This is why your app forecast changes every 6 hours. It is model driven with no human input at all. It gives you an icon, a temperature and no insight whatsoever.
It is a complete weather app to suit your forecast needs. All the weather information you need is right on your phone. Android or I-phone, use it to keep track of all the latest weather information and forecasts. This weather app is also free of advertising so you don’t have to worry about security issues with your device. An accurate forecast and no worries that your device is being compromised.
Use it in conjunction with my website and my facebook and twitter and you have complete weather coverage of all the latest weather and the long range outlook. The website has been redone and upgraded. Its easy to use and everything is archived so you can see how well Joe does or doesn’t do when it comes to forecasts and outlooks.
