Memorial Day All Day Rain
Temperatures right now are climbing into the 80s however the south southwest wind is keeping things in check across Long Island and Coastal Connecticut. Inland New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania are climbing into the 80s and there will be some 90 degree readings again this afternoon.
Satellite loop shows clouds still pretty far south in Virginia and into the Carolinas as Tropical Storm Bonnie is now inland. Bonnie has weakened into a depression again. The tropical system is moving further inland faster than modeled and it seems that if this trend continues, much of that moisture will be drawn northward into the Middle Atlantic States over the next 2 days. For us some of that moisture gets involved with a cold front and we will see rain tonight developing after midnight from south to north.
Regional Radar is beginning to show rains in Virginia lifting northward. Some of that will be coming in for Memorial Day.
For the time being this afternoon we will see partly sunny skies and there is the chance for pop up showers and thunderstorms this evening though like yesterday they should be few and far between. Hopefully tonight the clouds hold off for sunset so we can see Manhattenhenge which is when the sunset lines up with the grids of the streets of NY so you can see it perfectly down eact east to west street (numbered streets). 42nd street offers great views and so does 57th and 34th streets. So it all depends on how much cloud cover after 8pm. Hopefully there will be very little or just enough to make it nice.
