Tropical Heat Humidity Into Sunday
We will continue to see hot and humid conditions over much of the area over the next several days. Excessive heat and humidity along with Heat Advisories are posted for much of the area. In all of this will be occasional downpours and thunderstorms. They should be of the hit and miss variety. Today we saw to weak tornadoes spin up. One near New Haven Connecticut and the other on Long Island’s East End in Mattituck. Damage from both tornadoes was confined to tree damage though 1 home was destroyed by fire in a lightning strike in Mattituck.
Though the Storm Prediction Center does not indicate any severe weather risk, in a tropical air mass like this, a strong or severe thunderstorm can’t be ruled out so be on the lookout for one. They should be isolated but all areas are at risk should thunderstorms develop.
We do see some downpours and thunderstorm tonight over Pennsylvania moving eastward. They may not survive the night but some areas might see a few downpours move through overnight. Most places will miss out and just sit in very humid conditions.

The next cold front is not due to approach until Saturday night and it may take a day or so for it to move through. Therefore hot and humid conditions continue through Saturday. Sunday we could see the best chance for widespread thunderstorm activity as the cold front inches through and a wave of low pressure develops on that front. More details on this over the next few days.
