Tree Lighting Weather Nice & Mild
Tree lighting weather ideally in a Charles Dickens world would be cold and snowy. However the reality is if you have to stand outside it is better to do it in nice dry weather with clear skies, light winds and relatively pleasant temperatures. Towns and Churches all around the area will be doing their Christmas tree lighting ceremonies this weekend. You could not have asked for a better weekend (except for the snow part!!). Tonight skies will be partly to mostly clear. Clouds on the satellite are settling north into upstate New York and interior New England and will stay up there for the most part. Temperatures tonight with clear skies and light winds will drop into the 30s with 20s in the usual suspect cool spots.
Saturday will be a great day whether you are Christmas shopping or putting up lights or finishing fall cleanups. Temperatures Saturday should top out near or close to 50 in most places.
Radars should be quiet all weekend. High pressure builds in and then gradually rebuilds northward late Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s highs should be in the lower 50s with a few 55 degree readings possible in some places. Then on Monday there will be a good deal of sun but some high clouds could develop later in the day. Also with high pressure beginning to rebuild southward from New England, a north wind will take hold which means highs will be probably in the 40s to around 50.
With regards to Tuesday a low is forecast to develop just offshore and track mainly to the east. It will be either a miss or at worst some light rain is possible along coastal areas under cloudy skies. Either way temperatures will likely not get out of the 40s. Dry air returns Wednesday and Thursday.
I will have more on the long range forecast outlook later today.
