Sunshine Warm Low Humidity No Rain For The Weekend

We have arrived at Friday which of course is getaway day for the weekend. A new air mass is building into the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic and it brings with it drier air. Dew points are back down to the 50s and this means reasonable humidity. We will also have a good deal of sunshine today as highs will reach the low to middle 80s Satellite and radar views are quiet and clear and we have no rain in the forecast through Sunday. Most lows for Saturday morning inland will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s while warmer urban areas will be in the upper 60s to around 70.

Saturday and Sunday look to be two very nice weather days. Temperatures will be rising and humidity levels will be going a little higher Sunday but it should still be reasonably comfortable and it certainly won’t be that wretched oppressive humidity we have experienced for much of this month. Sunshine will take highs Saturday to the middle and upper 80s.

Sunday we will see temperatures run a little higher with sunshine all day. Highs will be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees or so in some places. Temperatures will be a little cooler at the shore with local sea breezes. Once again no showers or thunderstorms are forecast for both weekend days.

Humidity levels will be going up early next week. We also have a bit of an odd situation developing for later Monday. Yesterday’s cold front is going to be stalling out over the Carolinas back to Tennessee. Showery rains will continue on and off to the south of that front in the Deep South and Southeast US over the weekend. A wave of low pressure is going to develop and move off the North Carolina coast over the weekend.

Normally that wave would run out to the east offshore. Sometimes these lows become tropical systems as they head out offshore. The Bermuda high offshore remains rather strong and it will force this low to move east and then turn northward and perhaps even northwestward. Both the GFS and European model try to bring that low back westward to Southern and Southeastern New England during the day Monday so we are going to need to pay attention to this over the weekend. For now we will call Monday a day of sunshine and arriving clouds with highs in the 80s to near 90 degrees.

Depending on what that ocean low does we could see some downpours or a thunderstorm late Monday and Monday night. Regardless of whether this system develops into something, we will see very warm and humid conditions continue Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs both days will be in the mid to upper 80s. We could see some downpours and thunderstorms develop during the late afternoon and evening hours both days.
