Sunshine Returns 70s Today Near 80 Tuesday

Finally we are in a good spot for a few days. Low pressure is offshore this morning and the rain from Sunday is long gone. We are seeing dry air covering the Northeast and the Middle Atlantic States. Other than some patchy clouds from time to time today we are finally going to enjoy a day with sun from start to finish. Temperatures will respond if only because the May sun will do its magic. Temperatures will reach into the 70s just about everywhere.

Finally things are quiet on the regional radar other than some scattered showers going on in upstate New York this morning. Ultimately those showers will disappear. Take advantage of the sunshine with some outdoor time today and again on Tuesday. We should see sunshine for most of the day on Tuesday. Late in the afternoon and evening a cold front will approach and pass. There will be a shower or thunderstorm chance when the front passes but much of the day Tuesday we will see sunshine. Highs will reach into the 80s in some areas before the front passes.

Wednesday we will be under a high to the north and an onshore flow but I believe that we may have a mix of sun and clouds rather than a totally overcast day. If you a draw an east west line across Pennsylvania and New Jersey and split the states in half, areas to the north into New York and Connecticut will see more in the way of sun while areas to the south will likely see more in the way of clouds. Temperatures will be in the 60s for highs with 50s along the coast.

One Last Surge of Rain Sunshine Monday Into Tuesday

Here comes the next warm front cold front combination for Thursday and Friday with some rain likely Thursday as the warm front approaches from the south and moves through and then a cold front moves in from the west. The weekend features Mother’s Day and while it seems that Saturday at this point looks okay, Sunday is a bit of a question mark. The front with the Thursday Friday system stalls and we will have to see if and how the next wave comes out into the East and also figure out the timing. This could mean another day with an onshore flow and some rain for Mother’s Day. We will take a closer look at this later today.
