Sunshine Late Day Shower Thunderstorm Onshore Flow Returns Wednesday
It is a nice change that we are starting off the day with sunshine. This is 2 days in a row and we could get used to it rather quickly. This will be a nice day and a warm day by recent standards with highs reaching the 70s to near 80. Late this afternoon a cold front will be approaching and moving through this evening. There is a limited amount of moisture available so we are thinking scattered showers or a thunderstorm possible this evening as the front goes through and that should be it. There isn’t much cloud cover on the satellite this morning so we should be okay at least into mid afternoon.
Regional radar is showing the shower activity with the cold front is well to the north of us and no where close. Local radars are silent for the time being.
The front goes by and then begins the next round of northeast winds as high pressure builds down from Eastern Canada for Wednesday into Thursday. Dry air from New England and upstate NY should push southward to Central New Jersey on Wednesday with partly sunny skies north and east from there into Northern half of New Jersey, Hudson Valley, Southern New England and Long Island. Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania should see mostly cloudy skies. Highs will be just into the 60s with 50s along the coast. I don’t see any rain for Wednesday into Wednesday night.
Thursday brings onshore winds clouds, patchy light rain or drizzle and temperatures in the 50s to lower 60s in most places. This is another one of these warm front cold front combinations. with some showers developing later Thursday night as the warm front tries to move through. Showers and the chance for a thunderstorm is forecast Friday with a cold front. with highs back in the 70s and we could see some inland spots approach 80…60s along the immediate coast of Long Island and Southern New England.
On to the weekend and Mother’s Day. Saturday actually looks okay with some sunshine & highs in the 60s to near 70. This cold front coming through Friday stalls out well to our south across the Gulf States. Another wave of low pressure develops and heads our way but it seems that at least the first part of Sunday should be okay with no rain and just increasing clouds. Rain might hold off until later in the day. We will zero in on the timing later today. We can say that if you are looking for a start to finish nice day, that is not going to happen the way it looks right now.
