Sunshine Beautiful Weather Continues Across
Northeast Mid Atlantic Through the Weekend
Satellite loops are mostly free and clear of clouds and radar loops are free and clear of precipitation. This will be the story for the next 5 days as high pressure hold firm over the Eastern US. After a chilly start this morning we have another day of of lots of sunshine ahead. High temperatures this afternoon will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. Dew points remain subdued so there are no humidity issues. Tonight we will be nice and clear with lows mostly in the 50s. Cool spots inland in Northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and Southern New England will be in the 40s. Warmer urban areas surrounding New York City and Philadelphia will be close to 60 by Thursday morning.

Not much is going to happen over the next several days. We have Hurricane Francine making landfall today in Louisiana as a strong category 1/low end category 2 hurricane. It will track northward following the course of the Mississippi River until it reaches Western Tennessee Friday where it comes to a grinding halt thanks to blocking high pressure to the north and northeast.
The block to the northeast could eventually force energy across the South to off the Southeast Coast. Pressures will be low off the Southeast US coast and global models show low pressure redeveloping over the weekend. It will be pinned under the blocking high to the north and at least through the weekend it is not an issue for the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states.
This leaves the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states in cruise control Thursday right through Sunday. We will see temperatures begin to move higher starting Thursday as sunshine take highs back to 80 to 85. The same holds for Friday and Saturday as we will have sunshine both days and highs reaching the low and middle 80s in most places. Local sea breezes will keep the shore cooler. Dew points won’t rise much so humidity levels will remain reasonable right through the weekend.
We will continue to see nice weather Sunday and the only thing that changes is that winds start to turn more onshore as high pressure builds to the northeast. Most highs Sunday will be in a range of 80 to 85 with coastal temperatures mostly in the 70s. Next week will start dry and we will be watching to see what happens with the energy from Francine in the long range.
