Late Summer Weather Underway But Humidity Remains Low All Week
No Rain Through the Weekend
September is known for it’s nice weather with cloud ,free days and long stretches of rain free conditions. This is exactly where we are over much of the Northeast, Mid Atlantic, Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and even parts of the Southeast US. Sprawling high pressure covers all these areas and will be around in one form or another for the next 6 days at least. Today we are seeing lots of sunshine and satellite and radars are mostly free of clouds and showers. Temperatures will be reaching the upper 70s to around 80 or so in many locations.

Blocking in the upper atmosphere is setting up with a strong ridge of high pressure building across the Great Lakes, New England and Southeastern Canada. This is going to not only keep a surface high over the Eastern US, it is also going to prevent tropical moisture from moving northward and creating humid uncomfortable conditions. Though temperatures are rising for the rest of the week, we don’t see temperatures getting into the 90s.
Tropical Storm Francine meanwhile will likely strengthen to a hurricane today and head north and then north northeast toward Southern Louisiana. Hurricane warnings are posted for that area. The blocking high will eventually block Francine and its residual moisture from heading into the Mid Atlantic and Northeast. It will gets shunted east and southeast across the Deep South and Southeast late this week and into this weekend.
This means that our weather across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England can just roll along with clear skies tonight and lows dropping tonight into Wednesday morning in the 50s with 40s inland. Wednesday with lots of sunshine, Highs should reach into the 80s in most places. We will continue on this course Thursday with another day of sunshine and highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
We will likely see temperatures inch higher into the low and middle 80s Friday and Saturday with sunshine for both days. Sunday also looks good with some sunshine. The upper flow will become more onshore starting later Sunday and into next week which will likely lower temperatures somewhat but the dry conditions will continue possibly into the middle of next week!
