Late Summer Weather Sunshine, Reasonable Humidity Into the Weekend, Francine Rains Stay Well South
This is going to be a busy couple of days across the Deep South & Gulf States. Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and the Florida panhandle are are at risk for heavy rain and widespread flash flooding. The highest risk likes in Central Alabama including the city of Birmingham. Flood risks will shift eastward over the weekend centered in Eastern Tennessee, Georgia & South Carolina. Francine which was once a category 2 hurricane is now spreading a large area of rain, severe thunderstorms, and tornadoes for inland areas and that moisture has no place to go thanks to a blocking pattern in the atmosphere.
None of that moisture will make it up to the Northeast or the Mid Atlantic states and you can thank a strong blocking high in the Great Lakes that will be suppressing all this moisture to the south. That means we remain in this sweet spot of blue skies and sunshine. Other than the occasional passing clouds there are no weather issues at all. High temperatures today will reach into the 80s in most places. Humidity levels remain subdued thanks to all this dry air and no access to tropical moisture.

Skies will nice and clear tonight with most lows in the mid 50s to lower 60s. Friday and Saturday look to be nice days with lots of sunshine. Friday highs will be in the 80s. Saturday highs will be in the 80s. Temperatures will be cooler along the coast with local sea breezes. Dew points will be inching up but they should only get back to the upper 50s to around 60 which means it will remain reasonably comfortable.
Sunday is nice and sunny with highs again in the 80s and it will be cooler along the coast. High pressure rebuilds early next week off the New England coast and this will create more of an onshore flow. We still do not see any rain in the forecast through at least Tuesday. Lower than normal pressures off the Southeast US coast could result in a tropical depression or tropical storm forming there and there are hints that some moisture from this could make it northward midweek, however it is still a good 7 days away so we will not concern ourselves with this right now.
