Heading into a Weekend of Dry Weather & Mainly Sunny Conditions,
Rain Possible Middle of Next Week
We have reached the point where high pressure is offshore and the airmass is not quite as pristine as it was af few days ago. Long nights and a weak flow off the ocean can bringing some patchy low clouds and even some morning fog in some places. Overall though it burns off fast and we get mainly sunny skies for most of the dayside. Satellite loops show mainly clear skies from the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley to the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. Look for plenty of sunshine today with highs reaching the 80s inland. 70s will be commonplace along the coast.

Not much has changed as far as the weekend outlook is concerned. Clouds to the south and rain in North Carolina and Southern Virginia reflect the northern extent of moisture from Francine. That low center is sitting in Western Tennessee and Eastern Arkansas. We also have low pressure beginning to form off the Southeast Coast of the US. Initially this is a non tropical system and should remain so over the weekend. However it does have a chance to become a tropical depression or a tropical storm early next week as it heads northwest toward the Carolina coastline.
This leaves us with nothing much to worry about over the weekend. Tonight will be another clear calm night with some patchy low clouds and fog developing in some places. Lows will be in the 50s inland and low to mid 60s along the coast. Saturday will be much like today with mainly sunny skies. Highs will be in the 80s inland and 70a along the coast with local sea breezes. Sunday is pretty much wash rinse repeat with low clouds and fog in the early morning in some places and sunny skies thereafter with highs again in the 80s except cooler right along the immediate coast.
Not much changes for Monday into Tuesday of next week. The onshore flow that begins to develop Sunday continues Monday and Tuesday. Clouds develop at night and linger into the early morning with no worse than partly sunny skies for Monday. Tuesday probably is a repeat performance but much depends on what happens to low pressure off the Southeast Coast. It could become a depression or a tropical storm before heading inland Tuesday in the Carolinas and then northward up the Appalachians. This could bring some showery rains Tuesday night and Wednesday. High pressure to the northeast could also suppress all this rain to the south keeping the dry streak going for all of next week. For now enjoy today and the weekend and we will be watching things all weekend to see how next week plays out.
