STORM DEVELOPING & INTENSIFYING OFF THE NEW JERSEY COAST TONIGHT
HEAVY RAINS GALES ALONG THE COAST, RAIN WILL END BEFORE DAYBREAK
Low pressure is developing off the south Jersey coast tonight and it is intensifying fairly rapidly. Heavy rains have fallen from New Jersey to Southern New England and winds along the coast are gusting to nearly 50 mph.
Flood Advisories and some Flood Warnings have gone up for parts much of New Jersey tonight we watch a developing storm off the New Jersey coast just to the east of Atlantic City. The radar and satellite presentation is very impressive with the comma head structure showing up. The comma head is the most intense part of the storm and it is moving right over head during the early morning hours.
Rainfall amounts have been over 2 inches in some places already and much of the area looks to finish with about an inch and half to some local amounts to over 3 inches before this is all said and done.
EASTERN SATELLITE
REGIONAL RADAR
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
The good news is that the back edge of the rain is now out of Southern New Jersey and moving steadily northeastward. The low will pass near or just offshore Long Island and should be east of Montauk by 7am. Weather conditions will improve with clouds giving way to breaks of sun and highs in the 50s. There is no change in the outlook for Monday as another storm set to produce big snows in parts of the Central Plains and MIdwest heads east. More rain is likely later Monday and Monday night. We will have more on this during the Sunday morning update.
