Steamy Weather Continues With Scattered Thunderstorm Chances

Through Saturday Slightly Less Humid Sunday

While technically today is not a holiday, many people have taken advantage of the calendar and created a four day holiday weekend for themselves. Today is day 2 and we have another steamy day in the Northeast & Mid Atlantic states. High humidity, sunshine, hot temperatures and the risk for some scattered thunderstorms pretty much describe a typical July day. Highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s with cooler readings at the shore.

We can already see some scattered showers and thunderstorms developing on the radar and the risk for storms will be with us all day and into tonight though it should be emphasized that for most people it will be rain free most of the time. Some of you may not see any showers or thunderstorms. Weak disturbances will continue to move along in the flow and brings us to another chance for scattered showers or a thunderstorm Saturday afternoon and evening.

Tonight will be very warm and humid and there is the chance for an overnight scattered shower or thunderstorm. Most lows will be in the mid 60s to lower 70s. Saturday sets up to be another steamy day with sunshine and clouds. Highs will again be in the upper 80s to lower 90s. There is the chance for scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler at the shore.

A weak weather front moves through Saturday night and heads offshore. This leaves us in a slightly cooler, slightly drier air mass for Sunday. The change will be a subtle one and it will feel a little better from the standpoint of dew points and humidity. Sunday we will see clouds and some sunshine with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Monday we will turn hot and humid again with highs reaching the upper 80s and lower 90s. Tuesday brings the risk for thunderstorms late in the day with highs again in the upper 80s and lower 90s.
