Spring Weather Continues No Rain Until Late Saturday
Temperatures Heading to the 80s Late Week
Certaninly not many folks will complain about nice weather for 7 or 8 days in a row and we are now going into day 4 of dry weather conditions and days accompanied by sunshine, but there are risks in the spring to prolonged short range dry conditions. Low dew points and what will be a developing wind later today could lead to brush fire risks. Red Flag Warnings are up for Southern New England and the Hudson Valley back to the Catskills. The Red Flag Warning also includes NYC.
Areas surrounding the red flag warning like New Jersey would be wise to exercise caution though the risks are a bit lower. Temperatures today will be back into the 70s with a fair amount of sunshine. On the satellite loop you will notice the northwest flow with clouds moving southeast from Eastern Canada. There are spokes or weak weather fronts that will pass mostly to the east however they will result in a tightening pressure gradient. Look for winds to turn a bit busy this afternoon with gusts reaching 30 mph in places, especially in areas where we have the red flag warning.

Winds will continue tonight but it will be on the warm side with mainly clear skies. Lows will be in the 50s. That sets up a solid launching pad for temperatures Wednesday. We will see sunshine and there will be a gusty wind so expect more red flag warnings and fire risks. Highs will reach the mid 70s to around 80 degrees. The northwest flow will keep sea breezes at the coast at bay so it will just as warm at the coast as it will be inland.
We see no changes for Thursday and Friday other than temperatures will hit their highs for this current stretch. Both Thursday and Friday will feature sunshine. Highs will be in the 80s both days an it is possible that some hot spots Friday could make a run for 90 degree highs. Dew points will eventually rise into the 50s but it will not be uncomfortable by summer standards.
We will finally start to see changes over the weekend as the ridge in the Eastern US breaks down and that will allow the next cold front to approach. Winds will turn more to the south Saturday so there will be clouds in the mix along with some sun. Temperatures will be a little lower with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
There might be enough moisture for a few scatterd showers Saturday evening but it will likely be Sunday when we see a cold front finally move through. There is going to be a solid impulse aloft to support this front so look for the chance for showers and thunderstorms later in the day Sunday into Sunday night. Next week is going to be different from this week as temperatures return back to average and even below average temperatures will take over from time to time.
