We all anxiously await the warm up and we can see that warm air coming this morning with clouds coming in from the west and there are some thunderstorms in a narrow band in Western Pennsylvania. Today’s temperatures will likely reach the 60s in New Jersey and Southern areas of the Hudson Valley. Long Island and Southern New England have to deal with a south wind more than likely and that will hold temperatures down in the 50s. Showers this afternoon should pass mainly north and west of the coast and should be brief in nature, in case one does sneak in.

The warm air mass moves in tonight and we should see temperatures pretty much hold in the 40s overnight and then its on to some sunshine and clouds for Friday, a west wind and highs in the 70s. We will do it one more time Saturday with some sunshine and highs in the 70s. Coastal areas will have to deal with sea breeze issues both days as is always the case in the spring.

There are no changes in the outlook for Sunday into Monday. An onshore flow, plus a strong cold front will mean a 20-30 degree temperature change on Sunday with most highs in the 40s along the coast and 50s to near 60 inland and west. Showery rains or just drizzle and fog Sunday will become heavy downpours Sunday night into Monday afternoon and a 2 to 3 inch rainfall is possible in most areas. Winds Sunday night into Monday will be strong from the south at 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts. There could also be some thunderstorms in the mix Monday morning.

Next week overall looks rather chilly again from Tuesday into next weekend with most daytime highs just in the 50s. Much of the week looks dry except for some rain or showers Wednesday night into Thursday.
