We continue to be under the influence of a strong upper air storm in Northern New England that continues to spin around and not move much. The block remains in place. If you look at the upper right corner of the satellite loop you can still see clouds backing westward from a storm near the Azores. Until that moves or breaks down not much will change here. We have some sun around this morning but clouds will develop again. Other than a scattered isolated downpour we should be dry today just about everywhere but it is quite cool with temperatures today reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s. That is about 10 degrees below average.

Over the next few days a frontal boundary to the south will see some showers along it. These showers are moving northwest to southeast and will not be a bother to us. Keep an eye on local radars should an isolated shower pop up.

Wednesday and Thursday should actually be partly to mostly sunny and cool with highs both days in the low to mid 60s. Sunshine will start to give way to arriving clouds on Friday with highs in the low to mid 60s again. Weather models continue to show the threat for rain this weekend especially on Saturday. Low pressure will be developing to our south and attempting to move up the coast. The GFS model is especially bullish on this showing some very impressive rainfall amounts on the last model run.

The GFS is very aggressive with rainfall and it has a well developed low along the New Jersey coast. It paints a worse case scenario of a strong noreaster with gales and 2 to 4 inch rains.
SOAKING RAIN MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND GFS MODEL SATURDAY & SUNDAY
This will carry over into Mother’s day making for a miserable weekend. The ingredients are here for this aloft but this will depend on how fast the block does or doesn’t break down. The European model is about the same with this idea. We will discuss the weekend outlook further later today.
