Snow Possible Early Monday Morning
New model runs all seem to be coming on board with the idea that we will have a shot of some light precipitation during the early morning hours on Monday…sometime between midnight and 7am from west to east. This should be nothing more than a cheap thrill coating to maybe an inch in some colder elevated areas away from warmer urban centers. Areas with the best shot for this include the Northern and Northwestern Counties of New Jersey, Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. Some areas may just see the ground whitened up and mainly on colder surfaces depending on temperature. Low pressure in the Gulf States is shooting out some moisture ahead of the main low which will come on Tuesday.

Much will depend on temperatures and intensity and again this is light stuff that is coming so it won’t amount to much. I don’t anticipate issues from this. Now on Tuesday we have the stronger wave coming up from the southwest into the Ohio Valley and redeveloping along the coast. Cold air will be trapped inland so this might create some issues if precipitation arrives Tuesday morning when it may still be cold enough.

The GFS model is much slower while the NAM model brings in precipitation by daybreak Tuesday. So far it seems the NAM is handling this better so we will leave the possibility here that precipitation arrives faster and that temperatures could be an issue inland. We will have more on this later today.
