Chance for Snow Sunday Night? Given the kind of winter this is has been so far it would seem almost silly to mention this but I think there is a possibility.
Chance for Snow Sunday Night?
I mentioned a few days ago that we perhaps needed to watch the second trough behind Saturday’s Noreaster and when we look at the forecast upper air map this is actually a pretty decent looking trough that is trying to lift. The problem is that it is trying to lift up at the same time that the upper vortex is racing eastward so it forecasts it out to the northeast and (just) offshore. A little wiggle room to the left and coastal areas of New Jersey and Long Island and Southern New England could get brushed by this. The European shows this as well and generates a few inches of snow. Its a long shot chance for snow given what’s going on but I thought it was worth mentioning. his would be more for the coast and less or nothing inland unless the shift were monumental. Sometimes these things can surprise and it wouldn’t take much for a chance for snow to happen so I’m throwing it out there.
Okay back to current weather and yesterday’s clipper is strengthening rapidly now and is producing rather strong gusty northwest winds along the coast. We do at least have a good deal of sunshine and that should be the case for the rest of today and tomorrow. Temperatures will probably get into the 30s though in some places barely and tonight will be cold with lows in the teens to low 20s.
Radar is showing just some lake effect snows in upstate New York and a few flurries elsewhere as snow tapers off in Eastern Maine. Nothing of consequence for us on the radar to worry about.
Friday we will see sunshine giving way to increasing clouds with highs in the 40s. Rain and wind with a noreaster coming for Friday night and Saturday with 1 to 2 inches of rain, coastal flooding issues and strong gusty northeast winds will be the story before the rain pulls out Saturday afternoon.
