Snow Likely Central South Jersey Southeast South Central Pennsylvania

Wednesday Night Into Thursday

Today’s system behaved as advertised with a sharp southern cut off to the snow south of Route 84 and extending into Northwest NJ and Northeast Pennsylvania. There were some upside surprises today in the Hudson Valley and across Massachusetts. South of there some flakes ice pellets or even just plain rain was the story. This little low will strengthen to the east and colder air returns tonight as skies clear. Lows by morning will be in the teens to low 20s in most places.

The last bands of snow or exiting Coastal New England this evening and weather conditions are improving to the west as radars shut down for a short time. Keep an eye on the Mid Atlantic regional radar on Wednesday is ice and snow start to rev up ahead of the next system.

Back to back systems don’t happen often. This next one will be tracking to the south across the Mid Atlantic states meaning that there will be a sharp cut off to the snow on the northern flank. Wednesday look for early sun then increasing clouds. Most highs Wednesday will be in the 20s to around 30 in the warm spots.

Snow develops tomorrow evening across the southern half of Pennsylvania and then spreads into Central and Southern New Jersey during the early morning hours. There is some question now as to how far north the snow gets. The cut off seems to be around NYC but I’m beginning to wonder whether the northern fringe could get a little further north than advertised. We will wait on deciding about that Wednesday morning. However areas south of NYC will see some snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SNOW FORECAST SHOWS TWO DAY TOTALS

This time around it will be a coating to several inches form North to South Jersey and we are thinking several inches across Southern Pennsylvania. The area that may do rather well with this will be across Northern West Virginia east across Virginia and Maryland and out to the coast. Winter Weather Advisories and possibly Winter Storm Warnings could go up Wednesday across this area. Further north it will just be cloudy. Perhaps a little light snow dusts the area from NYC and areas just to the north. This also will be one of those rare times where no change to rain will be taking place. This area does move offshore and sink southward Thursday by midday.  Note also another wave buckles on Friday which could cause the snow to persist across the Mid Atlantic states. Meanwhile areas from NYC  northward will likely be in clouds with highs only in the 20s Thursday and Friday. More theatrics from another storm system will be the story for the weekend.
