Weekends this time of year usually mean skiing for those who enjoy it. Frankly I don’t like to pay money to fall down but that’s me. That said here are the snowfall forecast maps for the northeast over the next 10 days. It appears that the European model
Snow Forecast Ski Resorts East
There appears to be a pretty substantial lake effect snow event setting up next week that extends into the northern Areas of New York. Ski areas in New England should pick up a few inches with the highest amounts in Northern Maine. This is the European model snowfall forecast map through next Saturday. There appears to be no major storms on the horizon in the next week or so. Some of the southern areas in the Catskills might get some snow this coming week as an arctic front approaches on Tuesday. Most of the heavier snow will fall north of interstate 90 in New York and New England
Snow Forecast Ski Resorts West
In the west they have more snow then they know what to do with. up to 5 feet on the ground in many mountain areas. More snows are forecast over the next 10 days though amounts will vary from place to place. Lots of tropical moisture is moving into Southern California which is feeding snow amounts in southern areas of the west more so than the north.
The weekend forecast in the east looks wet for the most part with low pressure tracking to the west of the coastal cities. Warm air and rain will be moving up into Southern New England on Sunday but this is just for a short time as much colder air comes in Sunday night and stays for all of next week.
