Snow Develops Tonight Coating to 3 Inches
As we look at what is going on this morning across model land I decided to leave my forecast as is. Weather models did come back a bit in the mid run cycle and the NAM remains the most robust of the group so at this point I’m just going to let things ride. This is a minor event. A coating to a couple of inches seems doable here. Best chances for the couple of inches are in the areas outlined, coastal NJ and Long Island are the two main areas of interest with lesser amounts north and northwest.
Satellite loop this morning shows clouds coming in from the west. We will see increasing clouds today. It seems everything is moving along a bit faster so we could see snow developing here late this evening and be done a little after daybreak on Friday. It did turn colder last night and highs today will only be in the low to mid 30s.
Look for radars to begin getting busy later today and tonight. Weather conditions will improve Friday morning from west to east. Then attention now shifts to the system in the south. Suddenly weather models want to bring snow to the coast of Central and South Jersey and to Eastern Long Island Saturday.
This is perilously close for Saturday. The GFS tilted left and the NAM came in far left. We will watch to see if these trends hold today.
