Slow Improvement Today Leads to Sunny Sunday & Dry Start to New Week

Saturday begins with a cold front moving slowly offshore. The front came through overnight but it has slowed down, producing some showers but these showers will exit to the east and we should see leftover clouds gradually give way to some developing sunshine from west to east during this afternoon. Temperatures today will be mostly in the 60s for highs. Cooler air will come in on the backside of this system tonight as skies clear. Temperatures by Sunday morning will bottom in the upper 30s to middle 40s.

Sunday will be a better day and certainly the better of the two weekend days as we will have no rain to worry about. A wave of low pressure moving across the Gulf States will pass off the Southeast US coast and head out to sea so there is no issue for Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England from this storm system. Sunday will be a cool but mainly sunny day with just some high clouds from the southern system. Highs will be mostly in the 50s to around 60 degrees.

The week ahead brings no major storms for the Eastern US and for the most part the week will be dry. The one exception will be Wednesday. A disturbance dropping southeast from Canada will swing a cold front across the Great Lakes and Northeast. This front will likely produce some showers or possibly a thunderstorm as it goes by Wednesday afternoon. It marks the leading edge of a quick shot of early spring cold air that will bring a bit of a chill to the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states Thursday.

Thursday into Friday a storm develops in the Plains and that storm will bring severe weather to that part of the country Thursday night and Friday but it will have a tough time heading east thanks to high pressure that builds into the Eastern US for late week. To start the work week we have sunshine forecast for Monday. Highs should reach a range of 60 to 65. Tuesday should also be a sunny day for the most part with highs in the 60s.

Wednesday will bring clouds and the chance for showers or a thunderstorm when the front passes through. Temperatures will be in the 60s. Colder air follows and we will be down in the 30s to near 40 Thursday morning. Thursday will be a chilly day as low pressure in Northern New England produces some rain and snow showers to the north. An upper trough likely produces sunshine and developing clouds along with a gusty wind. Thursday highs will be just into the 50s in most places and 40s inland. Moderation arrives Friday after a cold night and highs will be back in the upper 50s to lower 60s Friday afternoon with a good deal of sunshine.
