Showery Rains Saturday Sunshine Cool Sunday Next Week Looks Dry All Week
The onshore flow strengthened overnight and we see the results with clouds that moved in from the east. We also have what looks like a hybrid type system of sorts offshore. We won’t see any rain from this but it will be kicking up the surf a bit today and Saturday from New Jersey to New England. The low clouds will be an issue today and there might even be some spotty light rain or drizzle in some coastal areas. Inland skies will be cloudy to occasionally partly sunny especially to the north and northeast of NYC. Temperatures today will be mostly in the 70s except for lower 70s at the shore.

We are headed into a weekend that is split in two with Sunday the better of the two weekend days. Tonight we will see low clouds, some patchy fog and some spotty light rain or drizzle, Most lows will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s. A cold front is heading east from the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley and it will be a front that will continue to move along once it passes. Waves of low pressure either offshore or to our south will have no impact as they remain uncoupled with the cold front.
Building high pressure behind the front will initially bring a shot of cool early Autumn air and that will be with us Sunday into Monday. The high is basically going to park itself over the Eastern US for much if not all of this week which means that we will not see any rain for the entire work week and it might even extend into next weekend as long as nothing tropical or surprising gets involved.
As far as Saturday goes it will be a cloudy day with some light rain or drizzle around in the morning and then showery rains and the chance for an isolated thunderstorm will occur during Saturday afternoon and evening. We do not see this as a severe weather set up. Rainfall amounts from this front will be about a quarter of an inch on average. Amounts will be a little higher north of New York City and a little lower to the south. Temperatures Saturday will be mostly in the 70s.
The rain will move out Saturday night and Sunday morning lows will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s in most places. The dayside Sunday looks to be a partly to mostly sunny day. It will be on the cool side with a nice northwest breeze. High temperatures Sunday will generally be in the upper 60s and lower 70s., High pressure will head to the Northeast US Monday and we should start the week with plenty of sunshine and highs back into the 70s just about everywhere.
