Showery Rains As Cold Front Passes Sunshine Cool Sunday,

The weekend is underway and we are about to begin a stretch of warm dry weather that will last all of next week. Ahead of this we have today and Sunday. Today we deal with a cold front and showery rains later today into tonight. There could also be the odd thunderstorm but no severe weather is forecast. This weather front that is moving through will not be a generous rain producer as we are looking for a quarter to a half inch at most. Highest amounts will be from Northeast Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, Connecticut and points northward.

Satellite loops show an intensifying offshore storm south of Nova Scotia moving northward. This storm is kicking up the surf from New England to New Jersey. The cold front is bringing clouds in from the west. Showers play through this afternoon and evening with temperatures today topping out mostly in the 70s. Once the front passes we will clear out tonight and it will turn much cooler. Sunday morning forecast lows will be in the 40s in many inland places and low to mid 50s coast and warmer urban centers.

Sunday will be a lovely day with lots of sunshine and it will be breezy. it will also be quite cool most high temperatures only in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Temperatures could be a little higher across Southeast Pennsylvania and South Jersey. Sunday is definitely the better of the two weekend days.

We are going into an unusual weather pattern for all of next week and probably next weekend and beyond. High pressure builds into the Eastern US Sunday also builds in Eastern Canada and is going to sit in the Eastern US all week long. This is going to allow for temperatures to warm up so this week we will see above normal temperatures developing beginning Tuesday. It won’t get summertime hot with 90s all over the place but it does look like we could see days of highs in the low to mid 80s.

Much of the US next week and into next weekend will also see very little rain. The exception to that will be the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida which lies south of the high center and gets an easterly flow of tropical moisture. There is also the chance that lower than normal pressures in the Western Gulf of Mexico could produce a tropical depression or tropical storm early next week and we will be watching to see what happens here. This could mean flooding rains for the Coastal Bend of Texas and Coastal Louisiana.

Back to Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England, Monday will be mostly sunny. Again we will have a chilly start with lows in the 40s inland and low to mid 50s coast and warmer urban centers. Temperatures Monday afternoon will move a little higher than Sunday. Highs will reach the mid to upper 70s in most places. Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday and Friday will be sunny warm days. Nights will probably have some low clouds and fog developing as temperatures rise and the high stagnates. Highs Tuesday through Friday will reach the low and middle 80s. Nights will drop to the upper 50s and 60s. No rain is in the forecast.
