Chilly Night Ahead But Warmer Days Coming As Summer Hangs On
We are enjoy a beautiful afternoon of sunshine. Temperatures are sitting in the mid to upper 60s inland and upper 60s to around 70 in some of the warmest spots. It is indeed a shot of autumn conditions and we have another chilly night ahead of us with most lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s in warmer urban areas while inland rural areas will bottom in the low to mid 40s. Satellite and radars are mostly free of clouds and showers and this is going to be the story for the week ahead.

Monday we see high pressure building into the Eastern US and this high will be sprawling and dominate the weather picture for this week. It is for the most part stalled in the Eastern US as well as the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. The core of this chilly air mass will move out Monday and that leads to warmer temperatures for the rest of the week.
The high is also creating a wall for moisture in the Gulf of Mexico from Texas to Florida. In the Western Gulf of Mexico, lower pressures and convection are organizing and a tropical depression or a tropical storm is set to form in the Southwest Gulf of Mexico. The pattern will likely prevent this system, even if does develop into a stronger storm or a hurricane from bringing rain up the East Coast through the work week and quite possibly through next weekend.
The forecast for the week ahead is rather straight forward with lots of sunshine for Monday. Winds will become west southwest and that will allow temperatures to warm up. Highs will reach the middle and upper 70s Monday afternoon. Tuesday begins a stretch of very warm weather that will give us a stretch of late summer temperatures, though highs should not get too out of hand.
The good news is even though temperatures will be warming up, dew points on the other hand will remain mostly in the 50s and that will mean that conditions will be comfortable right through the end of the week. Tuesday highs will reach the 80s with sunshine. Wednesday highs will reach the low and middle 80s.
Nice warm summery weather continues Thursday and Friday with sunshine both days and highs in the middle to upper 80s. Rain free conditions will likely continue through next weekend.
