Showers Ocean Wind Saturday Warm Humid Sunday
As the weekend draws near there aren’t any important changes in the approach to the forecast. Sunday will be the better of the two weekend days relative to Saturday though it will be very warm and humid with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Saturday we will see on and off showers and some spotty light rain or drizzle with lots of clouds. However here too not everyone sees them and there will be dry stretches. Timing this out is rather difficult but the best guess is some showers late night early morning and then again mid to late afternoon into Saturday evening. It really is a dice roll regarding outdoor activities. The best thing to do is to keep an eye on the sky and the radar.
EASTERN SATELLITE
The satellite has been like a see saw all week with this frontal boundary to the south basically buckling back and forth. Tonight the boundary is to our south across Virginia and extends back northwestward to the lower Great Lakes. Showers with some heavy rains are showing up on the regional radar from Western Virginia northwestward to Wisconsin. These showers will stay pinned to our south tonight and most of Friday. Skies tonight will start clear though some clouds could appear by morning. Most lows will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s.
REGIONAL RADAR
There are no changes for Friday with some early sunshine followed by arriving and thickening clouds. There will be an ocean wind Friday into Saturday so that and cloud cover will keep temperatures in the 70s and along the immediate coast of NJ & Long Island Coastal Connecticut temperatures might get stuck in the upper 60s. Friday evening some showers could appear in South Jersey & Southeastern Pennsylvania and spread northward overnight into Saturday morning.
GFS FORECAST SATURDAY MORNING 8AM JUNE 23, 2018
That warm front could take all day to move northward which will leave us in lots of clouds whether or not we get any showers. Then Sunday it is going to be a very warm humid day with some breaks of sunshine and highs into the 80s. Some scattered thunderstorms are possible as a cold front approaches late Sunday and Sunday night but much of the day should be rain free though uncomfortable.
GFS 2PM SUNDAY JUNE 24, 2018
Next week a dry air cool air mass arrives on Monday and should start a stretch of nice weather with low humidity that lasts into midweek. However the long range pattern is changing and we are going to a very warm and humid pattern late next week and next weekend.
