Showers Moving Through This Evening
Windy & Quite Cool Sunday & Monday
Satellite loops and radars late this afternoon show a line of showers and a few thunderstorms setting up from Northern New Jersey southward into the Middle Atlantic States but it appears that so far the stronger cells are from Southern New Jersey Southward. We will see the showers and possible thunderstorms move through this evening. It appears that these storms will remain under severe criteria though some gusty winds could occur when they move through in the next several hours.
Nothing much has changed in the forecast through early Tuesday. Windy and cooler conditions return tonight and Sunday will be a windy chilly day (by mid spring standards) with clouds mixed with some sun. Passing brief showers can’t be ruled because of the cold unstable air aloft. Temperatures will bottom in the mid to upper 40s tonight and only rise to the upper 50s and lower 60s Sunday. Sunday night looks quite chilly indeed with lows in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Again no frost or freeze is anticipated given that there may be a few patchy clouds and a gusty wind which should keep temperatures up somewhat. Monday’s highs will be in the upper 50s to some middle 60s.
Tuesday we look for less wind, less sunshine and more arriving clouds. Models have been in flux regarding any rain for Tuesday night and Wednesday. Today’s runs bring the the northern edge of the rain to about New York City and Long Island Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. This still could wind up being further south so we will continue to watch wait and see.
