Severe Weather Threat For Sunday
The Storm Prediction Center is placing an area in the Middle Atlantic States Northward into New York State at a marginal risk for severe weather on Sunday. This is due to a cold front that will be coming through during Sunday evening. It covers the Eastern Half of Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey southward into Northeastern Virginia. From the stanpoint of the dynamics of the atmosphere it is not really all that impressive.
Here is the current Storm Prediction Center forecast for Overnight into Sunday morning. Notice no severe weather is forecast for us overnight. The atmosphere on Sunday will become unstable but not overly so. When we look at the measures of instability we noticed that they are rather on the low side. Still the odd cell could develop into something severe and we will of course watch the situation closely Sunday afternoon.
With regards to the daytime Sunday it will be warm and humid and a few scattered downpours could pop up ahead of the main cold front that won’t arrive until Sunday evening. Once those storms are done, dry Canadian air is the story for Monday into Wednesday with sunshine, deep blue skies, low humidity and highs in the upper 70s to around or just over 80 with night lows Monday night and Tuesday night in the 50s to lower 60s. At least this gives a break from the tropical humidity of the last 3 or 4 days.
