Severe Weather Risk Raised Eastern Pennsylvania
The Storm Prediction Center has added an area of “Slight Risk” for severe weather this afternoon across Eastern Pennsylvania touching Northwest New Jersey while the marginal risk remains eastward to NYC & Southern New England. I’m not completely sold on the thunderstorms being strong as they reach the coast but away from the coast it is certainly possible Clouds along coastal areas are preventing daytime heating at the moment but there is some sun inland and that plus instability and an approaching cold front might set off a few strong cells late today and this evening.
Right now radars are very quiet except for some rain touching Southernmost New Jersey and that is headed to the northeast. Much of the rest of the day should be uneventful with breaks of sunshine and temperatures into the 80s except along the shore and Long Island.

Not all models agree with the severe weather risk late today. The HRRR is the most aggressive showing a line surviving to the coast but the NAM model and some others show very little thunderstorm activity except for some scattered thunderstorms. For now will cover the chance of another thunderstorm this evening. Sunshine is back for Sunday.
