Heatwave Friday Through Monday
While we enjoy the next 2 days we will look ahead to Friday and the weekend which has hot weather coming and for some areas it will be a string of 4 or 5 days of 90 degrees plus. We also have the threat for severe weather Friday evening as a cold front will be moving through. The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service has already put up a slight risk of Severe for Eastern New York and all of New England including Eastern Long Island with a marginal risk of severe back to the the west across New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile for today there is no risk of anything here as we have lots of dry air around which means sunshine, low humidit, and temperatures in the 80s so enjoy.
The satellite loop shows almost cloud free conditions across the Northeast and Middle Atlantic States as high pressure builds overhead today. The dry air mass will begin to move out on Thursday so look for temperatures to climb. Humidity will climb somewhat on Thursday but it will still not be that uncomfortable and no thunderstorms are forecast for Thursday.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK
Thursday’s highs will be in the 80s to around 90. Friday however we will be into the 90s. I think 90 to 95 will be a good bet and then with a front coming through look for thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Here is an early look at the NAM model for Friday afternoon 2pm showing a line of storms approaching.
Once this front goes by Saturday will be hot but actually it won’t be overly humid with highs into the 90s. Sunday and Monday will be the two very hot and humid days with sunshine and highs in the 90s to near 100. There is a chance for late thunderstorms on Monday as well. Be sure to keep abreast of the latest severe weather information when we get to Friday and stay cool in the heat.
